ISP HOW-TO
As leadership is a vital aspect of being an NHS member, all members are required to do an Individual Service Project during the second semester if they wish to remain inducted. This
STEP 1: PICK A PROJECT
You may work in a group of up to four people. The project must require at least four hours per person. Your project should benefit the community. It should require you to take a leadership role it is not just volunteering.
Examples: cleaning up a community park, hosting a virtual workshop, holding a book drive for a charity
Not Examples: cleaning out a neighbor's garage, taking care of an individual's lawn

STEP 2: SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL
The ISP proposal involves a questionnaire for your plans for the ISP and is due on March 24th (extended to March 28). Fill it out and email it to [email protected]. In the body of your email, provide a short (2-3 sentence) description of your proposal. Send the form as an attachment. Make “ISP Proposal” the subject of the email. Note: you MUST have your ISP approved by your contact person PRIOR to submitting the proposal. Do not assume that the project you have in mind will work out without talking to the individual and/or organization that it is supposed to benefit. Refer to the example & contact us with any questions.

STEP 3: CONDUCT YOUR ISP
Be sure to take pictures. You must submit a hard copy of FOUR to EIGHT pictures. However, you should take more. If we do not feel like the submitted pictures are representative of your efforts, we will ask for digital copies of more pictures. The 4 to 8 pictures should "tell the story" of your ISP. For example, if you planted a garden, you should include a before picture, a picture of you gathering supplies, some "action shots" of members working, and an after picture. Be sure all group members appear in the pictures. You may print off pictures onto printer paper (they may be black and white but should be clear) or have them developed at CVS or somewhere like that.
STEP 4: COMPLETE FINAL REPORT
Complete the ISP Final Report attached below. If your contact does not speak English, please have him or her write it out in their own language and also submit a written interpretation. Refer to the example & contact us with questions.

- Physical copies of four to eight pictures telling the story of your ISP. These should be bound into the folder, so glue them to a piece of paper if necessary.
